  • The data amount of multiview video is several times that of general video. If effective compression technique is not used, it is impossible to transmit and store multiview video effectively, which also becomes the barrier of the extensive application of the multiview video. Therefore, it is necessary to do research in developing new multiview video compression techniques. With the development of network, more attention has been given to the technique which can provide interactive multiview video, and how to effectively transport multiview video through network has become more and more important. In this paper, a new multiview video codec based on the FGS(fine granularity scalable)coding method is proposed. Experiments indicate that this codec can improve the transmission of multiview video, while providing high coding efficiency .
