    A RAPID CONTEXT SWITCH MECHANISM FOR MULTITHREAD: PARALLEL MULTIPLE CONTEXTS MECHANISM

    • Having analyzed the present multiprocessors, the factors affecting the context switching overhead are pointed out. To deal with this overhead, the limitations of conventional execution units and context switch are analyzed, and the concepts of thread oriented execution and parallel multiple contexts are proposed. On this basis, a concept design of multithread processor is built. Finally, its efficiency and effects on machine performance are analyzed and evaluated.
