A CHINESE NATURAL SPEECH SYNTHESIS SYSTEM ECTRAN/SO FOR THE ENGLISH CHINESE TRANSLATION SYSTEM

This paper introduces the realization of a Chinese synthesis system on the basis of an English Chinese translation system. In order to get more natural speech output, the approach to generate pause and light tone information with the grammar and semantic information is discussed in detail. During the implementation of the synthesis system, a generic speech database is built with the direct waveform encoding method and the speech output of simple sentences is realized.
