    ROBUST LOW BIT-RATE WAVELET VIDEO CODING FOR PACKET NETWORK

    • A video coding scheme based on discrete wavelet transform (DWT) is presented, which is suitable to packet switch network. By decreasing complexity and texture division, modification is applied to the SPIHT wavelet coefficient coding algorithm to meet the efficient and robust requirement of the video coding scheme. To solve the problem of sharp decreasing of frame quality due to packet lost, the significance of packets is equalized by including Intra and Inter frame information in every packet. The improved SPIHT algorithm is used to produce the mixed bit stream. Experiments indicate that the scheme has the advantages of low computation complexity, not being sensitive to packet lost, and error diffusion restraint.
