CURVE-BASED TEXTURE MAPPING

A new method for texture mapping is given in this paper.For mapping a 2-D image onto a 3-D surface,two corresponding curves, one in the 2-D image, and the other on the 3-D surface, are studied first in this method. Then each point on the 3-D curve is mapped to its corresponding point on the 2-D curve and is set to the grey level or color of its corresponding point. The procedure of texture mapping and 3-D surface displaying through perspective transformation are also discussed. Two examples of texture mapping using the curve based texture mapping method are given.
