On Software Productivity Measurement

Computer professionals have been striving to improve software productivity. However, there is still no satisfying answer to the question of how to measure the productivity. This paper presents in detail the popular productivity met'tics and their virtues, defects and applicability. Furthermore, the development, the research and the practical application of software productivity metrics are also discussed.
