Analysis of the Basic Assumptions in Universal Relation Database Systems

The universal relation model aims at achieving the complete access path independence.In order to do this well,the database systems must satisfy some basic assumptions.On the basis of analysing the assumptions carefully,we point out the ambiguities of the assumptions,and clarify and explain them.The relationships between the basic assumptions are discussed and their impact on the database schema design is also given.
