A Survey of Content-addressable Memory Techniques

With the rapid development of VLSI, content-addreesable memory (CAM) is receiving considerable attention. This paper surveys the development of CAM in recent years. The comparison tetween CAM system and traditional storage system is made. Various architectures of CAM are introduced. Its applications and some implementation considerations such as hardware complexity,software system etc. are discusscd. Some experimental and commcrcial CAM products and Promising techniques are presented.
