Development of Chinese Character Small Keyboards With Whole Character Input Capability

    • The development of three prototypes of single-chip microcomputer based Chinese character (CC) keyboards with whole character input capability is described in this paper The first keyboard consists of 140 keys and is controlled by an 8039, the second 128 keys and by an 8031 and the third 192 keys and by an 8031. There are 103 CC keys representing all the 411 CC sounds (syllables) each of which represents 4 CC sounds and 4 switching keys in all the keyboards developed. The other keys are for ASCII and functions in the first keyboard, for numeric, punctuation and functions in the second, and nearly the same as the keys of an ordinary microcomputer keyboard in the third. All the keyboards developed are designed for the IBM-PC or GW-0520 personal computers. They are easy to use and friendly to the common users for whom no special training is needed.
