ROBUST ESTIMATION OF ILLUMINANT DIRECTION AND ALBEDO FROM SHADING INFORMATION

Assuming uniform albedo and Lambertian surface for the imaging model ,a new robust method to estimate illuminant direction and albedo from shading information is presented. If there exists a singular point,the information can be estimated by using shading information nearby the singular point. Some experiment results on synthetic images or real images are given. It is shown that the new approach is robust and accurate.
